Seems like I'm using Excel spreadsheets more at work these days.I would like to be able to become more proficient plus it would enhance my CV
Would be great to do all that clever formula stuff etc.
Whats the best way to do this?Anyone ecommend any online tuition etc...?Dummy books?
I've asked work but they're unlikey to assist with funding a course
Thanks

I found it pretty straightforward if you just read through the help files and search the web for anything that's unclear. I pretty much know Excel inside-out now - everything from pivot tables to VBA...0

I use Excel a lot but I find that the clever stuff I don't use very often is easy to forget.
I keep a reference book handy to help out. I chose Excel 2010 - In Depth and find it excellent.
That said I suggest you go and have a look on YouTube. I find it a fantastic resource for all sorts of things and Excel is no exception. There are tutorials covering a whole host of things. One by one the penguins are slowly stealing my sanity.0 -
Agree with the above, and I use this site:-

whenever I get stuck.
You can post the most obscure of questions and someone will give you an answer (my current record is 5 minutes from posting the question to getting an answer).:wall: Flagellation, necrophilia and bestiality - Am I flogging a dead horse? :wall:
Any posts are my opinion and only that. Please read at your own risk.0 -

I've "self taught" myself and do now have an extensive knowledge of Excel (which, like esuhl, includes pivots, VBA, user defined functions etc).
My technique? Simple really - when you find yourself having to do something that appears repetitive of convoluted simply say to yourself "surely there must be an easier way of doing this" and then go and search the help files and internet. Even though many may think that MS products are designed by Wallies (Office 2010 more so!), they normally have thought of most things! (Although, having mentioned Office 2010, I don't find the help as easy to use as previous incarnations!)Never let it get you down... unless it really is as bad as it seems.0 -
Another vote for MrExcel.
I also use www.utteraccess.com quite a bit. It's mainly aimed at Access developers, but covers all the MS Office products.0 -
I learned a lot from excel help threads such as
https://groups.google.com/group/microsoft.public.excel.misc
https://groups.google.com/group/microsoft.public.excel.worksheet.functions
https://groups.google.com/group/microsoft.public.excel.programming
What you do is read at least ten threads a day and see if you can work out the solutions and compare them with the expert's suggestions.More0 -
