I was wondering if anyone had any suggestions please, I have replaced the batteries in the tv remote control and whatever button I press on it, 8 comes up on the corner of the screen and nothing else happens. I am able to work the tv from the controls at the top of the screen but can`t work out why the remote won`t work. I have also unplugged the tv taken out the batteries then tried again and its the same.
Thanks
Thanks

The easiest thing would be to replace it. I've done so before. There are plenty of new ones on ebay.New forum. New sig. Yes I still need to lose 2 stone!0

Thanks, thought it might have `died` and we`d need a new one.0

HOW TO CHECK IF AN INFRA-RED REMOTE IS WORKING.
These are the TV remotes with a dark red panel or LED at the business end. Many digital cameras are ultra sensitive to infra red, so if you point the remote at the camera and hold or pump the OK button, then look at the digital camera screen, you should be able to see the Remote Control LED flashing, if the Remote is working.**** I hereby relieve MSE of all legal responsibility for my post and assume personal responsible for all posts. If only 8 is appearing on the screen, have you checked to see if that (or any other button) is stuck down?
I had this a couple of weeks ago with the Sky remote. I freed the button and it worked as normal.:wall: Flagellation, necrophilia and bestiality - Am I flogging a dead horse? :wall:

Maybe try an old-skool multifunction remote?0

I looked up my TV model, and did a search for an identical compatible on ebay. Its worked perfectly, so would recommend.
I tried the above camera method for my old remote. I saw a flash, so appeared to be working, but it did not do anything, so the simplest thing was to replace for approx £14.New forum. New sig. Yes I still need to lose 2 stone!0
