is it possible to read kindle books on a Sony ereader ? and if so, how?

Not without converting them to a Sony-compatible format.
Assuming they're not DRM-protected commercial releases, you will be able to convert them using the free Calibre software.

Sadly not any more - they are DRM protected. You used to be able to until they sussed it!
Calibre is a really useful programme for converting generally, but doesn't work now for kindle stuff - and it's free0 -
thanks for your replies, I have kindle for pc and have downloaded several free books from here http://www.ereaderiq.co.uk
but would like to be able to read them on my ereader.
