Sending Items abroad

Hi All,

I just wanted a bit of advice on my ebay selling. I am having a bit of a clear out at home and putting a few items on ebay.

I have had a few messages about sending items to Germany, Lithuania and Ireland. Even with a tracked service with Royal Mail, it is only tracked until it leaves the UK. I do not want to be liable for lost items. Has anyone had any bad experiences selling to bidders abroad?

Many thanks!

If your items are low value - under £46 - I would just use Royal Mail Airmail, in the unlikely case that a parcel gets lost it is simple to claim back from RM as long as you have the paperwork.

I have had a high loss rate to Russia and Italy so they are blocked but otherwise I love my overseas buyers!

I forgot to ask, what paperwork might you need in case it gets lost. Is it just proof of postage? Just so I know what to keep.

    Thanks again!

As a private seller you would need POP, a copy of the Ebay sale page, a copy of the Paypal refund...
A business seller would need to provide a receipt for the original value of the goods as well as they can't claim more than they sold the item on Ebay for.

If the item is worth more, say £150, what's the safest method abroad. Is it Airsure or international signed for?

Would these be ok in case of a buyer paypal claim?

Try asking on this thread as that's where a lot of the courier gurus hang out:

The problem is that the service relies on an overseas postal service and for items over £150 you MUST have a sig, and RM cannot guarantee that.

We track all International Signed For items until they leave the UK and then the item is handed over to the destination country's postal service as a priority item. The following countries will have tracking overseas; a scan on arrival into the country and on delivery: Austria, Belgium, Bulgaria, Canada, Czech Republic, Denmark, Ireland, Finland, France, Germany, Hong Kong, Hungary, Japan, Luxembourg, Malta, Netherlands, New Zealand, Poland, Portugal, Romania, Singapore, Slovakia, Slovenia Sweden and Switzerland
