Nice to see Lara Lewington and bump presenting the SE weather forecast last night.
Best of luck to all three of you0 -
Cheap, but at what cost?
As I said in my other post, the cost of rate tarting is halved rewards on future credit cards, so I didn't get rid of the second one after seeing what happened with the first. Lesson learned.
This sale is a gigantic £87million version of buying one of Martin's books from back in the day and then getting annoyed if he changed publishers for a big advance or self-published for even more cash. There was nothing to stop you getting that book out of the library and only giving the author 6p from your council tax rather than whatever the royalty was on full price, just the same way that there are other money advice sites like Guardian Money that still cost nothing and where you can register and comment.
As for people mentioning Which?, back in 2010 they were very snotty in their group test of vacuum cleaners and gave a bad review to one of the cheapest and you could sense that it was partly due to being directly sold by Mr T. Having used that cleaner for over a year I didn't have the attitude that a big brand was automatically better - but that's what Which wanted me to believe.
So wherever the advice is from and however much of one personality goes into a site/forum/book/TV show, you always have to filter that out when making financial decisions for yourself. Having said that my last library fine was the same size as a late payment on most credit cards so I'm probably not the prime target kind of user that Moneysupermarket is after0 -
Just bear in mind that it's now MoneySupermarket that is logging your details.

Can you explain why this would be an issue?
I don't get it.Herman - MP for all!0 -
I subscribe to moneysupermarket.com and receive their emails.
Today (25th) I received this so-called Deal (clickable link) via their latest email:
http://www.moneysupermarket.com/deals/national-deals/1416/lowcostholidays/view-deal/?utm_source=National&utm_medium=email&utm_campaign=UK220612/
In case anyone can't get it via the link, it's an offer from a company called lowcostholidays for 7 nights B&B in the 5 star Quinta Jardim da Serra Hotel in Madeira, priced at £129.00 with a stated RRP of £277.00, and thus a discount of 53%.
I make no apologies for being an avowed cynic (realist?), so all I did next was to Google the name of the Hotel. On page 1 of the search results was the following link:
http://www.lowcostholidays.com/propertyresults.aspx
Again, for those who can't see it, it's a link to the company's actual website, to their listing for the same hotel, only this time the price, for what seems to me to be exactly the same offer, is £90.00, reduced from £122.00.
Now I'm happy to be told I'm wrong, but that seems to me to be rather close to misrepresentation.
I can't help feel just a little concerned, and actually a bit disappointed that MSE is now in the hands of what on the face of it now seems to be a rather shabby little bunch.
Of course, I could have completely misread things, and it's all perfectly genuine, I suppose.
Happy to discuss. If in doubt - do something. (With fond memories of Harry Chapin)0 -

I was thinking that. Raw Data of the MSE Forums et voila! a vast Research base for Moneysupermarket, with Martin exploiting us in a typical Multimillionaire mindset that is give folk the teeniest amount and himself a massive amount.
I really hope he is a people person who cannot be brought off by High society who despises his people agendas.#TY[/B] Would be Qaulity MSE Challenge Queen.
