I can also vouch for the smooth skin. I've used it on my bikini line, legs and armpits. I get an ever so slight 'stinging' sensation, but it's i wouldn't say it's anywhere near painful - nothing like an epilator

It works best on pale skin with dark hair, it's not suitable for asain/black skin.

If you want to go completely hair free down there, i think it would be better to get someone else to do it, as it could get a bit awkward and you don't want to beam the laser in the wrong bit!

I'm going to attempt to shave again in a week or so while I save up for the IPL. I'm terrified of lasering a lip off or something :rotfl: If it was just my bikini line I wanted doing, I'd try a whole host of different things, but I want the lot gone, FOREVER!! lol

when you say full bikini area, do you mean all off (hollywood wax style?) I did ask when I got laser done and the lady said it wasnt safe on those very personal areas :o

my experience of laser, i had 3 sessions at a place called bodysmooth but for some reason the deal was rescinded and I got all my money back (£999). 2 years later the hair is back (well after 6 months or so actually) with a vengeance on my legs, ok reduction on my underarms so I would say make sure you go for all 6 sessions.
We got rid of the kids. The cat was allergic. ;)

    Debt at LBM (Sep 07): £13,500. Current debt: [STRIKE]£680[/STRIKE] [STRIKE]£480[/STRIKE] [STRIKE]£560[/STRIKE] [STRIKE]£13[/STRIKE] £0 overdraft :D
Current aims - to start building up savings
    1st £1000 in 100 days - £1178.03 :D 2nd £1053.38/£1000 :D 3rd £863.59/£1000 :o

Are you sure it was an ingrown hair that caused your problems

I used to have the same affliction as you, in virtually the same spot and it turned out the cause for me was an allergy to cheese and that was the only symptom
A heap big thank you to everyone who posts the comps, your all stars!

mogwai, yep I want the whole lot off. I spoke to SK:N in birmingham, and although there prices are extortionate, they said it would be fine. hmm...

Kaelea, I don't think its anything more than a bad ingrown hair as I have no known allergies, but who knows!

I am undergoing laser hair removal and have found that there is a gradual reduction in the density of hair after every treatment. I have mine done here: http://www.cckat.com/procedures/soprano-laser-hair-removal

This clinic uses a soprano laser. I'm very dark haired (actually, I'd resemble a Yeti if I let it grow) and have not experienced any burning or pain with this laser. It feels warm, yes, but no 'ping' that the other posters have described.
    Good, clean fun.... :D

    Hi all,

After my recent nightmare with an ingrown hair (I shave fully), I have this morning woke up too a groupon deal for 6 laser hair removal sessions for £99.

I'm seriously considering doing it once my current ingrown hair bump has calmed down.

I can't stand hair in my bikini region (I know it's natural but so is not wearing mascara and eating modified food, an we all do that!)

I was just wondering if anybody could comment on there experience if they have had it, how many sessions it took, we're there long term results, was it painful, and what part of the body did you have it done in?

The offer is for a place in Birmingham called lasecore.

After my recent disaster and having to have two days off work to possibly get the entire thing lanced, I'm extremely reluctant to shave again. Waxing can cause the same issues, so I need something more permenant.

I'd watch out before you click buy because you could be about to waste a whole load of money!

The overwhelming majority of "Laser" offered on Groupon is actually IPL (intense pulsed light) which is not the best option, and not as effective as other lasers.

What you really need for ingrown hairs is Nd:YAG laser hair removal, it's what the NHS use for ingrown hairs.

@Wirenth the Soprano is like that because it uses two beams of laser which interfere with eachother, reducing the power and effectiveness. This probably means you'll need more treatments for a clean-sweep.

I didn't get the groupon deal - seemed all too dodgy to be messing down there!

I love the one you have suggested M Holloway, but I have a feeling it's going to run into the thousands :(!

Wirenth, if it works for you then great!! Unfortunately I'm not at a budget right now where I an pay for 15 odd sessions up front. I'm wondering if I could get convince the NHS to pay for the hair removal down there for health reasons? I obviously don't want to use the 'budget', but hell, I've paid enough in taxes to afford it and then some!

I'm mixed race, so I was more worried about burning, to be honest. I'm pretty happy with how it has gone so far. No burns and after the 4th treatment, about 70% reduction in the amount of hair. Although, I do have multi-coloured hair and deep roots, so the last few treatments will probably be interesting - the darkest hairs are the ones that got killed first.:o

The soprano laser should be fine for your skin tone (I'm assuming between Fitzpatrick 3-4?) however it is not suited for very dark skin, only the Nd:YAG is.

The dark hairs go first because the laser is attracted to the dark pigment, like a magnet. Fair, ginger, blond or grey hair cannot be removed using lasers.

For ANYONE with dark skin DO NOT get IPL, it is very common to burn and leave blisters which can scar.
