i currently have an existing halifax reward current account. i would like to take advantage of the £100 switch offer.

i do have another current account with santander that i wish to switch with everything (dd/so/salary).

is it possible to switch to an ultimate reward current and then downgrade as soon as possible? thus have 2x reward current accounts? even 1x £10 loss outweights the switch offer, or i could have 10 months free ultimate reward current?

    the t&c - http://www.halifax.co.uk/bankaccounts/switch-to-halifax/
state i can also switch to a halifax reward current account as an existing customer but as a joint account - i don't want this.

T&C - "To qualify for this limited offer: You must not have a Halifax bank account with us".

Could close your existing account, give it a couple of weeks, then apply.

The T&C's seem quite clear you need to switch all regular incomes and outgoings, had anyone tried doing it without switching their salary and just moving the 2 direct debits accross?
