How do I measure for a upvc front door?

Hi there, can you help? I'm looking a buying a upvc double glazed front door on ebay and want to ensure that it will fit the space of the old front door. when I measured the old door and frame it is less wide on the inside than it is when I measure from the outside. So when I look on the ebay listing and see the full measurements of the door and frame width, should it match my outside measurements? If you understand what I mean.
I know, it's a really stupid question!!

It is less width on the inside due to the thickness of the plaster. Your measurement should be that of the outside. The door frame will butt up to the brickwork on the outside.I can afford anything that I want.
Just so long as I don't want much.0 -
Assuming you mean a doorset (ie door and frame) then you measure the external opening size between the brickwork and deduct 10mm off the width and 15mm off the height0

Hi there, thanks for the info, what are the deductions for?0 -
If it was an exact fit you would find it very difficult to get the frame to fit the opening. With the frame made to a slightly smaller size you have a bit of "wiggle" room. The opening could easily be slightly out of square and if it is, there is no way that you could trim the door frame to fit.I can afford anything that I want.
