You write down the reasons you think you were mis sold.
  • i had a payout from egg for £5300 ponds and im trying to reclaim the tax, but i cannot find the letter for the payout as this is what HMRC needs. I tried filling in the R40 form. the payout was in august 2017. i know egg are now looked after by barclays and they cant help. i paid the cheque into my barclays account. how do i proceed with this claim and is there an address i can write to. any help very much appreciated

You only claim the tax back on the interest element of the refund. Egg complaints went either to Canada Square or Barclays, depending on the time period, you should do a DSAR to these 2 for all their records held on you, that should provide a copy of the letter as it's unlikely they will have deleted the data from 3 years ago.
  • sorry, im being really thick here. i dont know the address for either of them and i dont know what a DSAR is

A DSAR is a Data Subject Access Request.  It's a request for the data they hold about you (the subject).

You can find addresses for Barclays and Canada Square on the worldwide web.
