better than a GForce 9800 graphics card and ASUS P5N-E SLI ?

I have a Intel® Core™ 2 Duo E6400 Dual Core Processor (2.13GHz,2MB Cache,1066MHz) and a ASUS P5N-E SLI nForce 650i SLI(C55) Mainboard with a separate GForce 9800 graphics card.
I am going to be building a new computer and giving the old computer away after replacing all my upgrades with the original parts.
I have all the parts I need, hard drive, DVD drive, power supply, case etc. except a motherboard, processor and graphics card, to build a new computer.
I, of course, want something better and faster than the old computer as I transfer my digital tape camcorder movies to DVD.
It has been a long time since I built my last computer so I am a bit out of touch.
What motherboard/processor with combined graphics will be better than what I have?
Or should I stay with a separate graphics card?
Preferably with SATA 6gb (as I have a SATA 6gb hard drive that my present computer does not support fully) and firewire, which I need for my camcorder, though I can get a separate firewire card if required.
Budget £300 - £400

Absolutely nothing; if the card still works, keep it. Any worthwhile upgrade will likely put you over budget.
Some food for thought:- PC Gamer Rig (May 8)

But I want something better in performance.
What I mean is, are the built in graphics cards on modern motherboards better or worse in specifications than the GForce 98000 -

Unequivocally worse - see my previous post. Make and model of PSU and case?0 -
I take it that this will be better than what I have.

especially if I keep my GForce 9800 or buy another and better one.
All within my budget0 -
Depends what your doing with your machine but something like this is within your budget.

Or

After that, it depends on what you do with your machine, as most current GPU will be overkill for anything non gaming related.
But even low/mid end gaming cards will fit within your budget for example the GTX 400/500 series but it really depends on your everyday needs.
If there is no gaming in sight for your machine, then an APU processor isnt a bad choice.0 -

Better - but not quite what I had in mind; I wouldn't even consider that bundle unless I knew exactly what I was getting. Any idea who made the motherboard? It may not have the SATA 3.0 support you're looking for.0
