Hi I made a ppi claim about 3 months back from RBS and was promptly paid out within about 6 weeks (£5500) so i thought id have a go at claiming back from a loans i had with Nat West about 14 years ago. I am not sure if the account was closed but i changed to RBS in 1999. I sent a claim to them stating that i thought i was mis-sold PPI but i only knew my bank account number and sort code. I roughly told them the amounts of the loans and that they were chained.
I received a letter two weeks ago saying that they are unable to progress as:
The current address does not corresponce with the records they have on file(I had moved since) so i sent them proof of my new address (this proves they do have information relating to my bank account)
Received a letter from Nat West/RBS today saying they are unable to progress this matter as:
You have not provided us with a number that refers to a loan account/full credit card number /mortgage. Please provide us with more information with which to locate the relevant policyAppropriate information can include policy numbers, amount, start dates, end dates, details of the business if it is a business loan, copies of credit agreements, copies of statements, any other supporting paperwork or loan account numbers/full credit card numbers
They say i have the option of making a Subject Access Request
however they are only obliged to keep records for up to 6 years and gave me an address to send a cheque for £10 to.
They also say that they have sent me back all corresponce and dont keep any copy but they have sent me back only a copy
Does anyone think i have a chance of taking this any further if i send in a SAR

To be honest without paperwork, a Sar may not get you anything due to the years that have passed the data could have been destroyed, they have said that you can Sar, but as I said the info may not be there so it is up to you what you want to do.0

Hi just reading one of my old posts.
I did not have any information about my old nat west account apart from an old cheque book stub and did give up on this PPI claim till last year i tried again with the information i had. I ended up getting another £5500 from 7 loans i had dated back between 1992 and 19970
