It's not meant to drip, but it will always dribble for a bit after you turn it off. If the dripping is continuous for long periods, then the cartridges need replacing. The surest way is to isolate the supply under the sink, remove one and take it to a plumbers merchant for a replacement. You're best to replace both while you're at it.

Are you sure you wouldn't be better off phoning a plumber, OP. you do sound pretty clueless.

    Turn the water off
  • You are only clueless in life until someone explains something to you. Otherwise no one would go to school/college/uni or do any sort of trade. A plumber didnt wake up one day and automatically know how to do something. They didnt just fix a dripping tap without knowing how to.

    Thanks for your amazing input!!

It's not moneysaving if you break the tap/wreck the sink/flood your house in the process ;)

To be fair the op does not sound as if they have much confidence in their ability to do this job. You cannot even begin to start it unless you are certain that you have isolated both the hot and cold supply.
Might I suggest that you get someone in (friend/colleague/competent DIYer) who has a bit of knowledge on the subject and get him/her to take you through the procedure. That way you will learn a lot and probably get the job done for the price of a pair of pints.
I can afford anything that I want.
Just so long as I don't want much.
