Can you pay for special delivery with stamps?

Is it possible to pay for RM special delivery with stamps? Like with recorded they will just add 95p to the package if it already has stamps on it.

Thanks, and apologies if this has been asked before.

I am 99% sure you can pay for any service using stamps.

I post parcels / packets etc and stick on stamps (which I bought before the increase) leaving a few pence short. That's what a chap at my local PO told me. Those big stamps which they print out have details of the service, ie large letter or Packet, which I now understand speeds up their sorting

In short, yes you can - I have done a couple of times in recent weeks.

The only PO mail related services I know you definitely can't use poatsge stamps for are Parcelforce services. But you can for standard parcels, as this is a RM, rather than Parcelforce service.

We sent a special delivery package on Saturday using stamps to pay the £9.75 fee; we stuck 21 stamps on (19 x second class, 1 x 20p, 1 x 5p) :D

The lady in the post Office was most amused, fortunately she has a sense of humour.

I had to return something once and the company sent me the stamps, there were loads, all small denomination. The post office bloke grumbled a bit but accepted it :)

OP, you don't have to have 95p added on btw, you can make that bit up out of stamps too.

SD isn't 95p. I think the OP was referring to when they added the RD option and paid by stamps.

The 95p is for adding recorded delivery. Special Delivery is a completely different service (and much more expensive!) rather than an add on.

I know Special Delivery is more, I was talking about Recorded. I just meant the 95p the OP originally mentioned could be made out of stamps too and didn't necessarily have to be paid separately.
