Redeeming old US Savings Bonds

Hi
I wonder if anyone can help me. I have some old US Savings Bonds that were given to me for my christening back in 1986. I am wondering if they have matured yet, if they are still earning interest or even if they are worth anything at all!
I have looked at the US Treasury Website and it all seems confusing. I'm not sure what is correct and what isn't.
If anyone can help or knows where I could look for some advice that would be really helpful.
