Natwest Slow Clearing

I joined Natwest in November last year and have found that some things take a while to appear in my balance. I don't think this ever happened on Barclays.
For example, I bought petrol from Asda pay at the pump yesterday and it has still not been taken from either my balance and available. I would expect it to have hit my uncleared balance by now.
A few weeks ago it took about 5 days for shopping and petrol to hit my account. £120 that I thought had already been taken just disappeared out of my account. This was Asda again but the same has happened in Morrisons and the same happened to my girlfriend who got petrol from Morrisons on Monday, it was only taken yesterday.
She spoke to someone yesterday from Natwest and they blamed retailers. I just don't remember anything like this ever happening when I was with Barclays and it is easy to lose track sometimes!
Who is likely to be at fault?

I have this all the time.
I'm with LLoyds & M&S Money.
Pay at pumps Transactions take longer to show.
Its not natwests fault!0 -
Yep nothing to do with the banks, it would be down to the retailer and how quickly they process there card transactions.
I had a card payment that had never debted, which was a little strange. This was before Chip 'n' Pin which in most cases debits my account pretty quickly.0 -
Its the retailer banks have no control regarding payment processing of this type.Im an ex employee RBS GroupHowever Any Opinion Given On MSE Is Strictly My Own0
