Sick Notes and DWP

Options
Got a letter today dated 28th May (glad i got it before long bank holiday) Saying my sick note is going to run out on the 2nd of June. Why is it they leave it so late to remind you? Its hard getting a apointment at my doctors and can take upto a week. I know i should have made a date but i am very forgetfull will do next time. I rang up and they said they will make a note that i am getting one. I will have it back dated if i cant get a apointment asap. Does anyone know what will happen with my payments?

It is your responsibility to ensure your notes are up to date, you should not be relying on other people to remind you. Your payments may cease until the note is provided, they will then be backdated in accordance with the date on the note.

If you are required to send in fit-notes then it is your responsibility to ensure you send them in on time.

I send in six-monthly fit-notes. As soon as I send one off, I make a note in my diary for the next one. (I would be lost without my diary!) and just to make double-sure I ask my Mum/Carer to put the date in her diary too!

I only see one GP - and need to book appointments up to two weeks in advance. Once he was on holiday when my fit-note was due. My Mum/carer phoned to say my note would be a couple of days late. She was told that my benefit would not be terminated (as we had a reasonable explanation) but it would be withheld until the note arrived.

Buy a calender that you can write on, detail all the dates on there, you can put all of your appointments and birthdays on it.
You soon get used to checking the whole of the month.
make the most of it, we are only here for the weekend.
and we will never, ever return.

Buy one of those calanders with large boxes for each day, pencil in all needed reminders and sick note expiries and do it 3 weeks prior to running out. They can forward date it as well as back date it when necessary. It just needs to be continuous for the claim. I also put it in my outlook diary which is on my PC as well. But that is more back up as electronic things can and do go wrong.

If your phone has a calendar, use that also, and additionally use the calendar on your computer. You can use something like Google Calendar on your computer and sync it with your phone https://accounts.google.com/ServiceLogin?service=cl&passive=1209600&continue=https://www.google.com/calendar/render&followup=https://www.google.com/calendar/render&scc=1
