If she is kennel club registered then you could insure her via them. The scheme used to offer lifetime cover but it wasn't cheap. However they did pay out on arthritis for our springer for several years until she was 15 as long as we kept renewing the policy and her drugs were more than the premiums.

Petplan I believe, give very comprehensive cover but again not cheap. However as you are clearly going to be paying a lot of money for your dog then it is best to buy the most comprehensive insurance you can find - look for lifetime cover, claim limits per condition per year rather than per condition per lifetime.

There is a pet insurance thread on here somewhere which will help.

Also contact the siberian husky breed club (there must be one) and find out what other members do re insurance. If you are buying a puppy then usually the breeder (if registered) will provide a certificate providing cover up to about 12 weeks old so also investigate this.

I would agree that Petplan are very good but expensive.

You can try the comparison sites to get some ideas but I would not generally go with the cheapest as the cover might not be suitable.

Companies may put their basic cover first on these sites to attract your attention but you can clilck through and upgrade to get a price suitable to your needs. (you don't have to use your real contact details if you don't want future contact).

Make sure that you get the highest level of cover for your budget and "lifetime" of condition cover to cover any ongoing conditions (with the same insurer).

You can check here for star ratings and also compare policies

If the dog is young and does not have any ongoing / existing conditions you can still shop around each year for your insurance.

Mine is with Argos Platinum ( for the past 15 months) - 1 claim for badly cut paw about a year ago which they paid with no issue. However the renewal went up by about £5 per month after the claim but I was able to take out a new policy (excluding existing conditions and not valid for the 1st 14 days) for approx the same amount as I had been paying previously.

I'm sure you can't wait to get her - I wish there were pics on this site!

We've got a mini schnauzer with kennel club (agria pet ins behind it).

They are excellent, they will cover for the life of the animal as others have said.

Ours has canine epilepsy so it's a lifetime condition with daily treatment and 6 monthly vet check ups and tests.

Our recent claim was a round up of the bills over the year, there was a claim last year which was under the threshold of the excess but they added it to the recent claim and paid it.:T

Beware using Kennel Club insurance, years ago we used them for our Chocolate Lab, however once we claimed, they hiked the premiums to £1500 + %'age of Vets Fees to get rid of us.

Nothing to do with trying to get rid of you. KC premiums do increase with age, but they offer lifetime cover which is very hard to come by and they didn't exclude the condition like many other insurers would.

My dog was 5 at the time, he had hip displasia in both legs, it was after a total hip replacement when the premiums were increased from around £400 with no %'age to around £1500 and 40% of any future vets fees.

It felt like they wanted rid, although they would never admit it!
