Eon don't want customers

I recently bought a repossessed house that had a pre payment electric meter with British Gas & as I was a new customer with no history they said that they wouldn't be able to change the meter over to a normal one.
Having been with EON for 3 years I gave them a call & asked whether they would be prepared to change the meter which they agreed to do free of charge.
Today I phone to give EON my meter readings to be told that I will have to pay £52 to change my meter over despite the fact i'd been told there would be no charge.
They have admitted misleading me but rather than stand by there word they would rather move me back to British Gas which is what they are doing.
I asked for them to listen to the phone call & was told that even if it shows that they told me there would be no fee they won't stand by it as it was a mistake on they're part.

I'd rather regret the things I've done than regret the things I haven't done.

Hi Breast Cancer Survivor
I'm really sorry you've been treated this way. If we've made an agreement to replace the prepayment meter FOC then there'll be notes on the account about this.
Also, as you say, we can listen to the call to establish what was agreed.
I would certainly take this further. Talk to our Director's Office (contact details are on your bills) and ask for a complaint to be raised. Alternatively, drop an email to the address in my Profile. I'll be happy to take a look.
We do usually charge for non-essential meter changes but this should've been pointed out at the start.
I suspect we're sending the account back to British Gas because we've recognised we took it over wrongly ie by giving you the wrong info.

Update British Gas are changing my Meter over to a regular one on Friday free of charge.I'd rather regret the things I've done than regret the things I haven't done.
