Credit Card Charges

Hi,
Just a quick query. Can some one advise how long you can claim back for credit card charges? I have been provided with charges which were applied to my account from 2006 however I have not been provided with a list of charges from 2004-2006. I don't know if its worthwhile paying £10 for a SAR if I cant claim these charges due to the timeline.
Thanks

Thanks...You can go back six years in England and Wales or five years in Scotland; these time periods are limited by law..."Now to trolling as a concept. .... Thanks, I had read that people had been successful in going back further so I didn't know if it was worth my while.0

I'm sorry, I don't understand what advice in particular you are looking for from starting this thread.
You will only get a refund of any credit card charges if you make a claim. Only you can decide if it is worth your while making such a claim"Now to trolling as a concept. .... Sorry! I have a list of charges from the last 6 years, however the account was opened in 2004. I don't know whether to submit a claim for charges incurred from 2006-today or pursue the credit card company for details of any charges which may (or may not!) have been applied to my account 2004-2006 before submitting a claim to them?0

You can't submit a claim for a refund of charges without first having identified the charges.
See the MSE Guide to reclaiming credit card charges for further details on (a) how to obtain the details of charges you may have incurred and (b) how to then make a claim
Note that the credit card company may not be able to supply you with details of charges from more than 6 years ago, but you won't know for sure unless you contact them and ask."Now to trolling as a concept. .... thanks, i think we have our wires crossed.
I have details of all of the charges incurred from 2006-2012. I am wondering whether to do a SAR and pay £10 to see if there were any charges (or if credit card company has the data) from 2004-2006 before submitting my claim.
My query is do I do the SAR and include any (potential) charges incurred from 2004-2006 in my claimor to proceed today with my claim for charges going back 6 years only. I am really sorry I haven't been clearer; I am the worlds biggest "waffler"0 -

As I have said, you cannot claim for charges unless you can identify those and how much they are.
Unless you have the details, then the MSE guide to reclaiming credit card charges suggests how best you may obtain these i.e. by requesting a SAR.
I have also advised you that the credit card company may not have the details from more than 6 years ago, but that you won't know for sure unless you ask them.
As to how far you may claim back legally, I have already advised you of that in my initial response (post#2). You however appear to already have been informed by others that you may be able to reclaim further.
As to whether or not any of this is worthwhile, that is only something you can ultimately decide upon.
I'm sorry, but I really don't know what further advice you are seeking. Please do post again if there is something you really are unclear on and which I have not already addressed in this thread and summarised in this post"Now to trolling as a concept. ....
