contents insurance-laminate flooring

i stay in a council house that is going to get new double glazed windows and new gas central heating,my laminate flooring is having to get lifted and told it may get damaged,if it does can i claim off my contents insurance or not, many thanks

No this would not be covered. It would not be considered accidental damage. If Insurers were to cover this type of thing, contractors would just rip it out without using any care.The comments I post are personal opinion. Always refer to official information sources before relying on internet forums. If you have a problem with any organisation, enter into their official complaints process at the earliest opportunity, as sometimes complaints have to be started within a certain time frame.0

Are the council not giving you a flooring allowance, my son got one when they had a new kitchen fitted (even though he already had new laminate that he had not got round to fitting)0

As has been said it would not be covered as this is damage caused on purpose rather than accidental damage - your insurer will not help you remodel your home unfortunately.
Also laminate flooring is a buildings item not contents, you may have cover for damage to it under the Tennants Liability section but this rarely includes accidental damage. But as I said it would not be AD anyway.0
