Listing an item.......

Take me through the process of listing an item on ebay.

I know I shouldn't be but I am so aprehensive and frightened I'm going to make a mistake.

Where do I start?
Things I need to say?
What not to leave out?
Taking photographs? one or more than one?
How do you add them?
How long to list things for?
Best time to end an auction?
Do you send everything small recorded delivery?

lots of question, i'll try and answer a few:

Firstly i would say make a template/plan of what basics u need for each item:
    1.Title
    2.Description
3.Size (this can work for anything clothes, gadgets, bags)
    4.Colour
    5.Make/Brand
    6.Condition: New with tags/used

The more photos you add the more it will cost you, so try to add no more than a few unless its a high value item.

I usually list things for 7 days (but you can list for 1,3,5 or 10).

small items i send reguar 1st class but obtain proof of postage certificate, that you can get from the post office.

I think it takes paractice and time and you can only get an understading of how iy works by doing it. So try and list a few small cheap items for practise and to get feedback. You get to review what the listing looks like so you can see if any mistakes have been made. But i can understand it can be quite daunting start listing.
  • if you have any webspace of your own or an account a a filehosting site then you can add unlimited images to your listing, within the item description, as long as youre pretty good with HTML

What are the basic charges for listing?

Does that include 1 picture and you pay for additional photos?

thats exactly what i mean :rotfl:

also, check out this link for a few more tips: http://www.ezaytools.co.uk/html_help.html
  • to start most listings at 99p you will be charged 15p, provided you dont use any extra features such as a gallery image (picture of your item in search results) and bold, highlight etc..

some categories only charge a 5p insertion fee, these include the books and comics categories, and i think CD's too, not sure about that last one though.

different fee's apply for buy-it-now items or if you start an auction at higher than 99p

If you do want additional photos, photobucket will allow you to add them for free, so fees aren't a problem.
