Nationwide SMART childrens savings 0.75%

We currently save coins for my 3 year old daughters money box, she really enjoys collecting them and bagging them up to put in her nationwide smart account, only problem is the very poor rate 0.75%, can anyone suggest a better rate?
Northern rock is best ive found but we dont have a branch in our area, halifax is great but we wont be making monthly payments.
She has a child trust fund which we pay £20 a month in, the savings account is to teach her from a young age the value of money and the benefits of saving, and when shes old enough teach her about interest rates which means we need to have her savings earning the best interest rated possible.

Northern Rock can be accessed by post - presumably you could also pay by bank transfer once it was set up?
