Buying a house next to a council rented property?

I would say that is more likely to happen buying a former council house than moving onto a typical private housing estate.
And in respect to the above, it has been the case for some time that the builders have to provide a number of houses on new build estates for social housing so you could have been next to "council tenants" on your shiny new estate and never known it.0 -
i think your post was fine - it is a fact of life that selling/buying a house adjacent to a rental property is not ideal, for many reasons.
Good grief! Do people really believe this? Why on earth should it matter whether your neighbours are owners or renters?
I'm in the process of buying my first place at the moment and I'm not suddenly going to mutate from being a bad to a good neighbour just because I'll be owning the property I'm living in.

Plus with the new powers given to Local Authorities that enable them to discharge their homelessness duty into private rented acommodation due to lack of social housing, who knows who will move next door to you..... ;-)
Regardless of where you live, any nightmare could move in next door. Buyers or renters, council tenants or the Queen.
P.S - My sister is doing a degree and in her last lecture mentioned that she lived on a council estate in Peckham. Two people moved their bags away from her. :mad:0 -

I think your OP comes across rather arrogant. I own my home and used to be a council tenant, I treat my owned home as well as I did my council home and I respect my neighbours the same. I have not changed the way I behave just because I own a home. To answer your question, I live between to families (I also have a family 3 small kids and a partner) and one is council, one is owned and neither family is any different, the parents are really nice the kids are unruly (like my own) .0

Neighbours of council houses/rentals will be less popular to your average joe shmoe buying a house. As far as I see it , that is fairly obvious.0
