Hi,
I have an Epsom Stylus. I have just bought it. I really resent the cost of the ink, its such a rip off.
I bought some colour ink cartridges from Asda. All worked well for a few days and then up came the error, 'cannot be recognised' message. I tried all the usual things, including cleaning the little gold bit, switching off, switching on again, reloading the cartridges se veral times etc but nothing worked.:(
I took the ink catridges back to ASDA who gave me a refund, no trouble at all.
Paying three times as much for ink is not an option I want to go round. I have put some geniune ink ink for now at vast expense. But I sell patternsthat have been photcopied on Ebay so the cost per print matters.Does anyone know the cost of printing one page of a coloured A4 size? Obviously it would only be approximate, I cant print to draft if people are paying for the print out.
Any suggestions as to how I can get round this would be welcome

I have the Epson Stylus Office BX300F and have never used genuine Epson cartridges. The last lot I bought were from 999inks, cost me £13.50ish for a whole set of four.
It never comes up with "ink low" or "your cartridge has run out of ink", but normally comes up with "cartridge unrecognised" when it hits that point. At <£14 a set, I can put up with that.43580 -
Except that it wont do anything at all! It just says ink unrecognised and wont do anything, I cant scan or anything. I have tried overiding it. I used third party ink with my last Epsom, I dont care if it 'shortens the life of the printer'
Its an SX435W. I have read in the past 24 hrs that Epsom won a case about their printer inks. They literally have a running battle trying to outwit the use of third party inks.
Now what I didnt try, because I didnt have time, was going and buying another ASDA magenta ink as that was the one coming up unrecognised. It had been working OK for a few days. According to the ASDA helpline it is hit and miss as to whether it will work or not. On the positve side, so far the black inks I bought from ASDA are working even though I did not exchange it for an Epson one. However, when you are as busy as me I need a printer that works. If I buy several inks then I cant get a refund if its outside of time so I cant store them.0 -
Just to clarify, all the inks were just a few days old. It accepted the ASDA ink at first, and then seemed to detect it after a few days. I dont know if I was just unlucky, but the ASDA helpline said they are notorious for not recognising the ink, even their own ones on occasion. Has anyone had experience with this particular model?0

Sometimes removing the power lead from the printer for a few minutes works.
You can buy compatible sets here

Or individual inks and sets here, though the postage costs can be prohibitive for small orders
http://new.ukdvdr.co.uk/search.php?page=1&search=sx435w
Have used inks from both the above as they will exchange or refund if necessary
An option for craft and photo paper if you use that here
