How to wipe clean my external harddrive?

Dban is used it wipe hdds clean, there are others, as long as the wiping of data is 7 or more times for a really good clean, then no data is capable of being recovered, usually they come as standard, like DoD settings and yes that Department of Defense which is 7 times the program overwrites the data.
in comparison to Dban evidence eliminator is rubbish.
