Halifax CC Query

I recently received written correspondence from the Halifax asking me to sign a pre-completed application for a CC.

Should such a letter suggest that some form of screening has already occurred at their end? I do not normally receive junk mail and such offers.

I look forward to reading any views that you may have.

Once you have sent your signed application they will conduct a full search on your credit history. If you already bank with them you might have been pre-approved for one of their cards but does not mean you will get accepted.

I would have thought pre-approved would mean acceptance is guaranteed. Pre-approved offers I get are for banks I have currently or previously had dealings with.

I have never actually followed a pre-approved application through, but assume there is a twist that the pre-approved credit limits are very low until you speak to them.

Pre-completed application forms that arrive are meaningless.

Pre-approved does not mean acceptance....you are pre-approved based on accounts conduct with them if you have some sort of current account but they will do a full credit search once you apply, however if they see something they dont like then they will decline application.
