Tried to switch provider, but BT just cut me off

I've had no luck at all with BT, so I decided to switch to talktalk, my 2 year business contract is up, so I arranged to switch to talktalk last Friday.

I run and internet based business and depend on broadband and the phone for customers.

Yesterday I found I had been cut off.

I called BT, who blamed talktalk, call talktalk.

I called talktalk who said the switch would happen on the 12th of June, and BT had pulled the plug early.

I called BT who said that it was a fault with the line and that an engineer from openreach would be here today.

By lunchtime nobody had landed, so I rung BT, who told me that it was talktalk's fault, but if I was to sign back up with BT I could have my phone and broadband back straight away.

I called talktalk who said BT was breaking the rules and that I should ring offcom.

I rung offcom who said that they don't deal with customer complaints and BT could do whatever they wanted.

I rung BT to find out where the engineer was, only to discover there is no engineer and that someone would be fixing the fault on Saturday and it's a problem with the exchange.

Twice I've been promised call divertion to my mobile, but it never happens, it's all lies.

If you, as I do, need phone and internet access to run your business do not use BT, they cannot keep their story straight, and simply don't care about you if you plan to switch.

Anyone have any suggestions as to how I could get my phone and internet access back, and if not with BT who with?

BT OR are resposnsible for all physical work on the line, so you're dependent on them regardless of provider. So you'll have to persist with BT Retail until the switch
Are you actually on a business tariff? If not, then there is no SLA in place and you cannpt expect compensation or any priority treatment, as you are techniclly in breach of the T&C's. If you are on a business contract then you should get some priority.
No free lunch, and no free laptop ;)

I'm on a business contract, twice they've promised call diversion, but it never happens, they just lie to me and I have to spend hours (really) on the mobile (at 14p a minute) trying to sort things out.

Since they appear to have broken their contract then take them to the small claims court for lost business and other associated costs. Add up mobile bill costs and a reasonable loss of business etc. Is it possible that cable has been stolen? Happened to our village earlier this year. We did not have any lines for 5 days. Right old mess. I think court fee is approx £35 for a small claim. Worth checking it out.

Hope you get this sorted. A local business had their line cutoff by a BT mess up during a switch and had no phone or internet for a month. They went bust as a result. :(

Is this date you contacted TT to arrange for them to become your supplier, or is it the date your BT service was to be ceased and for TT to become your supplier ?....did you let TT arrange everthing or did you contact BT and tell them you were moving to another supplier and wanted then to stop providing you with service ??, if you did, did you tell them a date to stop providing service, or did they give you a date service (from them) would stop ?
Depending on what the original (presumably agreed) date of change of provider was depends on who you need to persue to get service either restored or provided, if the date has already passed then its TT, if that date is in the future the its BT..I would imagine you dhould have at a minimum a communication from TT stating when service is due to start, and probabaly one from BT staing when service is to stop
