Garage sale

Folks, I need to de-clutter as much as possible and do not have the resources to do a boots sale. Can I do it American style and have a garage/yard sale? It would be easier - I can put everything outside and price them up. I could advertise widely in local papers, shop windows etc and hope to catch the passing trade.

What do you think? Are there any implications I haven't thought of and any other suggestions?

Cheers.

Boz

I love garage sales and never could understand why they aren't more popular in the UK. I spent many a happy afternoon out in the US and Canada trawling through the neighbourhood sales.

I have had mini yard sales before, but as I live near two big schools I tended to wait until they had their own fairs so I would catch the passing trade. I kept mine very low key, just a few bits and bobs, childrens bikes, skates, garden play equipment etc and did very well.

I think if I ever saw one while I was out I would have to stop and browse.

Could you do the same as they do abroad and see if all your neighbours would have them on the same day to tempt people into the area?

Doing it anomymously at a boot sale is one thing, having people at your home is quite another. It's something I would never do.
Oh dear, here we go again.
