Water filter causing tcp taste?

Has anyone else had problems with to 10" GAC type cartridge.
For years we have used them and they came with a solid blue exterior, now the only replacements I can find have a softer corrugated white exterior. We bought 3 as they were cheaper and immediately there was a taste of TCP in the water that was never there before. We ran the water for 5 mins but no change.
Tried another cartridge but still the same.
One left unopened currently on offer on that well known auction site!
Any suggestions on a supplier of the solid blue type cartridge at a resonable price please?

We thought it was our kettle, but my friend arount the corner gets it too. We've take to filling it from the hot tap and making sure we dont re-boil the same water. Works most of the time.0

thanks for the comments
The water is fine until we put in the water filter then it tastes like TCP - taake the filter out and water tastes OK
It just that I thought filters were supposed to make the water taste better not worse!
have been googling and found a supplier of Pentak GAC filters at around £8 each so will be trying them out.0
