tax credits-maternity leave

i have just had my renewal pack through and noticed i should have declared i was having my full 52 weeks maternity leave not just 39. does anyone know how this will affect my claim. Also my husband is having trouble getting his p60 off his employer any ideas what i do about this?

    you are supposed to advise them when your paid leave finishes as it can affect wtc if you get it, but tbh i have never informed of it as i never knew before.

    Don't know about the maternity leave sorry.

    You should be able to get the figures needed for you husbands pay from the last payslip for the year (either month 12 or week 52 depending on how often he is paid) the gross pay to date should be shown on it.

    we do get working tax credit..... hope we dont have any to pay back!!!! thankyou

    Tax credits still class you as working your normal hours as long as you are receiving statutory maternity pay & stay within the 39 weeks. If you go over the 39 weeks then you should let them know as they take you off the system as being not in work. Then when/if you return to work call them again to add your employment back on.

    Not telling them could cause an overpayment which you would need to pay back.

    With tax credits it's best to tell them about ANY changes & they'll let you know if it's relevant or not.

    Better safe than sorry.

    If he doesn't get actual payslips then he either gets it online in which case he can print it off or if he doesn't even get this then the employer is breaking the law.
