Euro exchange

I know there is threads about this, and they go on about dollars etc and go back years.
As it stands now I go on Holiday to the Eurozone in 10 weeks. Should I be exchanging my cash now, or holding out for a rise in the exchange rate? or might it go sown within the next few weeks? I know its all opinion atm, but I'm looking for opinions.
I'm of the belief that it may yet go up, the Mrs however has already changed hers.
Is the whole Greece debacle going to have a detrimental or positive effect on my holiday cash?

To be honest I think the economists and banks have factored in all the risk/rewards in the value of the Euro.
You have around a 50:50 chance of it increasing from the present values so you and your wife are both correct

Hi, In my humble opinion you will get more euros for your pounds over over the next few months. It will go up and down on a daily basis but the trend will be towards more euros for your pound.
In order to get less Euros for your pound something bad must happen to the British economy.
In order to get more Euros for your pound something bad must happen to the Eurozone economy.
In my opinion with the problems in Greece, Spain, Ireland, Italy, Portugal etc the chances are that the the pound will get you (maybe a hell of a lot!) more Euros in the next few months.
Just my opinion as a nobody.
Anyway, have a good holiday!
PS. I am going in about 6 weeks and I will not under any circumstances be changing my Pounds for Euros until the last minute, and depending on the Eurozone problems I might just take a few Euros and the majority of my cash in Pounds to change whilst I am there!
My point of view is that every 2 Euros extra I get for exchanging my holiday money is an extra beer and I love a beer in the sun!0 -
Look at pre booking Euros with a rate guarantee. We did it with moenycorp and collected from airport and rate had indedd gone up by just over 1c so we got the higher rate. Youc an pre book cfor collection upto a month with them - sure there are other companies as well
Either way unless you are taking thousands and thousands the likely impact of a few cents difference won't be more than a beer or two!0 -
Europe remains far from turning the tide of its fiscal and economic weaknesses.’
Analysts at currency firm Caxton FX think the pound could hit 1.30 euros within six months.
One, Richard Driver, said: ‘The latest political developments from Greece and France have had an immediate impact on the euro and the long-term consequences are potentially disastrous for the single currency.
‘Sterling is gaining plenty of momentum thanks to its growing safe-haven status and considering the chronic instability within the eurozone, we could realistically see the pound hitting 1.30 euro mark by the autumn.

All of which is guess work and some common sense. Either way securing a decent rate of low 1.20's now is not going to see someone going on holiday in 10 weeks hugely affected either way, especially if using a rate guarantee like I suggested
Uk is currently seen as a safe haven now purely becuse of how volatile some of the Euro countries are. the Euro in its current form will end at some point, its just how and who stays in it that is unsure0 -

You've got 10 weeks so why not get equipped with a debit card with no foreign exchange fees. Then withdraw euros when you arrive at your destination. No one knows if the exchange rate will go up and down in the next 10 weeks but you can be sure of paying commission if you get your euros in the UK.0
