advice urgently needed please

Hi all,
my partner is in the icu and his recovery is going to be long term. Can anyone tell me how i can access his bank account so i can pay the bills? Thank you all.

Sign him up for online banking as if you were him.
He will need an email address also

I did this for my OH when he was ill. He doesnt know one end of a computer from the other anyway.

You poor things, this must be an awful time for you and managing mundane things like money are the last thing you want to spend time on.

But please don't commit fraud opening unauthorised bank accounts!

You can ask to speak to the welfare officer at the hospital. Unfortunately you are in a common situation they deal with regularly.

The welfare office will talk you through options, with the most likely being power of attorney. Your partner can sign power of attorney forms if they are able to or the hospital can attest your partner is unable to sign.

The power of attorney means you can manage all your partner's financial affairs - you should expect to be asked for proof at banks, utility companies etc.

It sounds as if you are in for a long haul and my heart and prayers go out to you both
