Currently doing some research on paris hotels.

so does anyone have any hotel recommendations
thanks

just down from Pigalle, on a Metro route to everywhere, cheap and cheerful, i was looking for Hotel Anglataire (Hotel English) but seems its changed hands, it is opposite a funky shop called Tati, and yes mostly tat but a few odd bargains.
It's in the 19th which isClignancourt which was lovely, you are believe it or not 10 mins stroll from the red windmill
have been known in the past to stroll from this hotel to the centre of paris in a good 45 mins stopping every few shops to take a look.

Paris is actually a very compact city; if you stay within Paris, you should be able to get to most attraction within 30min using the metro.
I would avoid areas directly around gare du Nord, always a bit dodgy there.I lost my job as a cricket commentator for saying “I don’t want to bore you with the details”.Milton Jones0 -
We stayed in the Concorde Opera in the 8th/9th arrondisment about a year and a half ago. Lovely spot. Right beside the train station for trips out to Disney etc.
Would stay there again and recommend it to my friends!0 -
Thanks for those recommendations,
we've only just decided to go to paris, so i'm researching areas etc.
We enjoy walking and once were up in a morning, we would be out till tea time, then shower maybe an hours kip and back out again, so walking to areas and sites of interest wouldn't be a problem.
It's just the area i think i 1st have to decide where to stay.
the hotel doesn't have to be fantastic as we wouldn't be spending too much time in there.
Thanks.0 -
Can't remember the name but my parents stayed in a great affordable little hotel on the Rue de Provence a couple of years ago. It's right behind the big shops (Galeries Lafayette etc) and also has access to Auber (RER station)/Opera (metro station)/Havre-Caumartin (metro), so great access to loads of attractions.0

We stayed at the All Seasons Paris 15 Lecourbe in March. It is in the 15th arrondissement about a 20 min walk from the Eiffel Tower. Very good Metro links to the rest of Paris and the area around it is quiet and has a safe feeling. It has free wi-fi, includes a continental breakfast and has free tea and coffee available all day in the lobby. There are some good restaurants nearby including one called Autour de.
We got a great rate off of Last Minute.com which was basically half price. It was one of the 'Top secret' deals.
Small rooms but that is usual for Paris and i would def stay here again.
It's worth looking at the other 'Top secret' deals on Last Minute as there are some good ones to be had and the thread on here may be able to help you find out the hotel before you book.:beer:0 -
The Adagio Buttes-Chaumont is an excellent hotel in the 19th arrondissement. It's right by the Buttes-Chaumont Park, which is lovely to walk around. The 19th arrondissement is also the cheapest neighborhood in Paris.0
