    Oh dear, so much misinformation!

Without commenting on each post, it's simple. You get 1 point per £ if your Tesco credit card is swiped for points, no matter what credit card is used for payment. (You will also get normal Clubcard points if paying by Tesco credit card.)

Using a Tesco Clubcard for points produces 1 point per £2, if another credit card or cash is used for payment, as Gromitt said.

OP: It's not a loophole. Tesco provided this information in an insert with my Tesco credit card statement.

As for the comment 'I know as I worked in the call centre for them' - sorry, if that's what the call centre said, they're wrong. Not that it would be the first time. ;)

Thanks, but are you saying there is or is not an additional bonus if you use your Tesco cc to pay and for points? I got something in the mail about this yesterday - my understanding was if I use it to pay, I get an additional 1 point per £2 spend on top of the normal 1 point per £1 spend, is that not right?

You get an extra 1 point per £4 spent, but you can get much better from other CC providers (upto 5% cashback).

Arghhhhh the more I read the more flumuxed I am ! All I know is I use my tesco credit card for everything and anything and its worth @ a tenner a week for me in rewards like hols, hotels, days out etc. Its like putting a tenner away every week without even thinking about it!

It would not work like that. Only get the full amount of points if the credit card itself is used to pay.

I know as I worked in the call centre for them.

You're absolutely wrong. What do call centre staff know anyway to be fair? I used to contract at Tesco HQ, and this was a known issue. Tesco are unable to differentiate between a CC clubcard and a standard clubcard at present. Hence, the current oversight detailed above.

NB: this has been the case for well over a year now. I used to fill up at Tesco HQ's private petrol pumps, use my clubcard CC for the 1:1 points, and my Barclaycard for 2% cashback.

How do you use the credit card as a clubcard - does the magnetic strip contain the details?

Yes. You just put the CC in first, then when it says 'do you wish to use this card as your payment method' click NO.

Correction - it's not just the magnetic strip, also the "chip" contains the clubcard info - that's why you can just stick it into the normal credit card reader when it asks to "scan your clubcard".

I wish the Tesco cc also contained the clubcard barcode (very useful when you need to pay with another card).

At present I go in the Tesco petrol kiosk, 5p-off/litre voucher in hand; insert my Tesco cc (for the double points) and then it asks for the PIN so I have to remove it and inset my Santander cc. Checkout girl is not amused (as she has to press an extra key).
    Messy, but worth it.
