iii introducing quarterly £20 charge

Spoke with TDDirect Customer Services and was told categorically that if you transfer all stocks out of your ISA account and close the account only the £50 fee would apply.
£35 charge per script wouldn't apply in that instance.0 -
On checking it appears that TD Direct don't offer Vanguard funds. They have a 'Funds Research' which links to Morning Star that shows all funds not just those available on TD Direct. The funds they offer are: http://www.tddirectinvesting.co.uk/investment-choices/funds-unit-trusts-and-oeics/thousands-of-funds-at-discounts-at-initial-sales-charges/
Thanks, appreciated!
Looks like Hargreaves it is for me, then.
Hargreaves seem to be cheap only for particular investors. E.g. Trade only with their normal account and hold VERY few funds (otherwise the £1-2 dealing charge really adds up).0 -
As I mainly invest in wrapped passive funds (HSBC trackers) I am thinking of moving to TD Direct Investing. They are first choice on the Monevator site followed by Selftrade, both of which have apparently adjusted their fee structure in light of RDR.

I was wondering why no one has mentioned TD Direct, especially as they have various Vanguard funds available for an ISA. Have people had issues with TD Direct in the past and now staying clear?
Not sure, it might that basic trade price is higher than most. I opted for Natwest in the end as their system uses TD's and as long as my holding value stays over £2k I will avoid the quarterly inactivity fee. Going direct to TD I'd have to stay over £7.5k. I'm just into shares no funds.
Also I get the access to the Asia and Australian markets I want. The trade costs are higher, but don't trade that often.
I nearly went with share deal active (Javis) for the cheap trade cost, no inactivity and international markets, but I found that they seem to charge £3+vat a month custody fee per line for international shares, that soon mounts up so no thanks.
Good luck with your decision.0 -
Just heard a trailer for Money Box live on R4.
Looks like the situation with III will be on there.
If you miss it, it might be on iPlayer later.
Enjoy, Bob0 -

Note that Selftrade have an Introduce a Friend scheme. £50 to introducer and £50 for the friend

You've got to love his 'explanation' as to why a lot of his customers are very upset by iii's actions:
"customers are simply upset about the way the markets have been over the last few months........."
No, customers are simply upset about the imposition of an £80 fee.
For those who wish to listen to his full 4 minutes or so of spin on Money Box it starts 16:16 into the program !0 -

note the part about III is about 16 mins in. also not it is worth listening to if you stay with them as the CEO seems like a fool and would be VERY VERY CAREFUL!!
haha awesome well we should now all move our case to claim distress and inconvenience !! as know this has been extremely annoying to sort out!0 -
With iii going to charge us £20 a quarter for the pleasure of making money out of our shares, I feel it appropriate that they give us the share Dividends quicker than 10 DAYS after the pay date IE Barclay shares on the 8th June rather than the 18th which is the norm.
PS I hope your reading this post Carruthers.
Yet another unhappy iii user
