Car Aircon Fitting costs
Hi All
I have a pegout 207 (09 plate) which is fantastic but its one down point is it as no air conditioning.
I am thinking of changing the car due to this but it as been suggested about getting air con fitted
could anyone advise on approx cost of this
Thanks:beer:

In the 80's my parents had a/c retro-fitted to their Merc. The cost was in the region of £2,200. I suspect it may be simpler and more cost effective to sell the car and buy one with a/c.The man without a signature.0

I think it'd cost near that, it's not a cheap process.
Definitely just invest in a car with airconditioning next time.

Much cheaper to swap the car.
Probably cheaper top part x it for a brand new one.
Its not an easy upgrade on a modern car.Censorship Reigns Supreme in Troll City...0 -
As said cheaper to change the car, and make sure the next car has any other options that are currently missing that you want.Google gives you answers use it.........0

There used to be a company called Alpinair who installed air conditioning to cars in the 70's and 80's. They are still around but a look on their website shows they have moved on to the maintenance of systems that were factory fitted as well as other types of refrigeration systems.
As others have said I think the cost would be prohibitive and sourcing a car that has it fitted would be a better option."You should know not to believe everything in media & polls by now !"

Retrofitting air conditioning is no easy feat on a modern car. For a start you need a condenser (like an extra radiator in front of the main one), solid copper pipework, electronics. Not to mention a belt driven compressor which would mean using a different aux belt.
Put simply it would be easier and FAR cheaper to just change your car. I have never owned a car without climate control and I would never dream of doing so.
If you have a van you could look into something like this but personally I'd just get a new car.
