Advice please re Bay window and blinds!

Hi
Hope i've posted this on the right board!!
Need a little help
I have a bay window in living room which is a bit of an odd shape for your standard bay window poles.(to buy a bay window pole and the returns would cost a fortune!!)
At the mo i have 4 curtains one in each corner IYKWIM,and as the track is one of those horrible mishapen white ones i made a frilly pelmet to cover it:o

Due to having new flooring(insurance job,DS1 and spaghetti sauce:eek:) i have redecorated the room and would now like to change curtains!
Am thinking of having blinds and doing away with curtains altogether as this would make room a lot lighter and i def want rid of frilly pelmet!!!
I would really like Roman blinds but i feel they would work out too expensive.
The cheaper option is roller blinds and they can be cut to size.
My question is (knew i'd get there in the end lol)
Do you think roller blinds would look ok in a living room or do they look a bit "kitcheny"?
TIA

I love roman blinds & think they'd look lovely in bay windows. They are incredibly easy to make & you can put blackout lining on them if you want. Then you get them in exactly the material you want. They always look nice-up, down or halfway :D . When they're fitted they can be butted up close to each other in a bay window so that there are no gaps, not sure you can do that with a roller blind as the end bits stick out a bit.
Another option is a wooden venetian blind, they look good with a big one in the bay & a smaller one either side. May have the same problem with butting up though?
  • I've decided to do away with the curtains in my bay window too and replace with roller blinds. The curtains always seem to block out a lot of light and I reckon roller blinds will look cleaner and more contemporary. Also much cheaper than new curtains - £200 for three from 247blinds.co.uk (including quidco cashback).

I'm in the same position with a new build and I've just got back from B&Q. There's a clearance offer on at the moment on a good selection of roller blinds in all sizes, ranging from £5 to £12. They are also selling off old stock, curtain poles and mirrors.

What I seen (which I might go with for one of the bay windows) was bamboo roller blinds. Cheap as hell and brand new (not seconds or clearance stock). About £4 for each of the side windows and about £7 for the front of the window (mines a square bay window with 2 sides) so for less than £20 I'd say that was a bargain...and I was seriously contemplating buying them...until the white wooden venitien (sp) blinds caught my eyes.. now I'm undecided. Going back tomorrow with hubby. All their blinds are really cheap considering Hillarys quoted me £1500 for 7 windows...rip off.

    Hope that helps.

    Hi
    Thanks for your replies.
I love making curtains and have tried my hand at roman blinds, but can never get them "square" and tbh by the time i've bought all the bit's and bobs it would prob be just as cheap to buy.(it's just the sizes!!)
I have always gone for creamy colour curtains in the living room to make it feel lighter, but was considering going for a chocolate brown colour blind to match cushions etc (i know i am really adventurous(sp)lol).
Although money is a problem i don't want window to end up looking cheap IYKWIM!!
