Lexus RX300se V6 good economy if you're light with the right foot !

    Oh god, that'll upset someone.

Then the greenhouse, grows mixed salads and spinach all winter, tom's, peppers( sweet and chilli), cucumbers, and South African gooseberries in summer.

If I am to believe the global warming religion the petrol 4wd has ensured this has been a warmer winter with fewer frosts therefore ensuring my winter crops have prospered.

I feel all warm inside, bit like the greenhouse.

    .....awaits response from angry mob......

my dehydrator - ok, so it runs off electricity, but it means I can make the most of a bumper crop of virtually anything from the garden and I don't have to buy in excessively overpriced dried fruit or veg from the other side of the world.
This summer I am going to make a solar oven :D

Mine is my Fiat Grande Punto. Got it about a year ago, and it will do about 65mpg when I'm careful, and its got a particulate filter so none of the black soot out of the exhaust.

I would have got an Aygo/Panda, but I do a lot of motorway miles, so this was the best choice for me. :)

Ask me again in August :D
I have a greenhouse, so I could put it in there if I need to. I'm really excited to try this, so I'll let you know how it goes.

Buying a brand new fuel efficient car on the basis that you are somehow helping the enviroment is a myth of enourmous proportions and I would suggest that if you have such enviromental feelings that you have deluded yourself into feeling 'green'.

Given the amount of energy which was expended mining the ores for the metal, sucking out oil for the plastics, processing and manufacturing parts, shipping them, running a factory, building the car, shipping it to the UK then your 65mpg and low particulates claim is a hypocritical feelgood joke.

Much like those who buy a new Prius or an Insight running a new 'green car' is laughable in terms of enviromental impact.

Running a second hand car is far better if green is your thing. The manufacturer has to build one less car with the associated 'enviromental' savings, make sure you properly maintain, service and drive the thing efficiently and at the end of its life make sure it goes to a scrap yard who will do a proper job of recycling it.

In real terms it is 'greener' to run a £300 banger for a year then scrap it and buy another than buy a new 'green' car.
  • by that argument, we will never get 'green' cars.

without demand, no company is going to supply.
and we will have to deal with dirty vechiles in perpectua!

if your going to buy a green car, there's alot good advice on this board.

as for money saving, you can reap the rewards of a new car, but pay heavily in decrease in worth.
