Tesco Bank - who to complain to?

Since Sunday I have been unable to access my savings account. I can login fine but once logged in all I get is - "There is a problem with your account information. Please contact us to resolve this problem."

Contacted them on Sunday to be told the problem is an online problem with my account and nothing wrong with the actual account. They would log a call with the relevant department to fix it but it wouldn't be that day as they only work Monday to Friday.

Phoned Tuesday evening as problem still not resolved. No-one in the department apparently but he would email them and ask them to contact me today. No phone call!

Anyone have any contact details for someone higher up to sort this out?

  • I would imagine their technical department are snowed under trying to sort out the !!!!-up they have made with credit card online banking. I notice they do not take complaints by email so I would see if you can call again and get it registered as a complaint which should move you up the queue.

I can now achieve a login about one attempt in four. Usually, I type in my username and get tossed straight back to the home page without further ado.

I've taken out what was left of my money and just won't bother any more. There are enough other savings accounts.

Phoned last night and assured that someone would phone me today. No phone call again.

Tomorrow I will be lodging an official complaint and if it's not fixed soon taking my money out.

How will you get the money out?

By requesting a withdrawal by telephone as they are unable to provide an online service.

Complaint now registered. Once again promised a phone call today. We shall see if it will materialise.

Just to add my moral support.

Tesco have been having some real issues of late - last week my card was refused when I filled the car up at a Tescos filling station. Very himiliating as the cashier was the type who just sneered at you as you held up a que of costomers and clearly thought I was just over my limit (as it happens, I have an £8½K limit and about £500 on the card!)

When I finally got through, I was told I had entered some incorrect information and assured everything had been re-set, however the next day the card was again refused when my wife did the weekly shopping in Tesco.

I tried to contact them again but was then told they couldn't speak to me as I couldn't provide a 6 digit pin they said I had been provided with (I didn't need this the previous day!) - I threw my toys out of my pram and demanded to speak to a supervisor and she eventually explained that they were upgrading their security and had a huge number of problems and... the 6 digit pin had only been posted to me that day, so I couldn't possibly have known it at the time of the phone call - it took another 3 days before we received it and used it to reactivate our card. Grrrrr!

When no phone call came by 3pm (despite asking to be called in the morning) I phoned again. This time the person that answered said he would get onto it right away and get someone to call me back.

About 45 minutes later someone did actually call - hooray! I was told that they had found the fault and rectified it and it should be ok from tomorrow.

I asked if it would be tomorrow or would it be ok now. She thought it would be ok now so I asked her to hang on whilst I tried it. Still same problem so off she went to ask the relevan dept. I'm now being told that they hoped it would be ok right away but it may need the overnight update.

So we'll see tomorrow. Someone is supposed to call back on Monday. Had to remind her it was a bank holiday and that she might be off. Oh yes so I am but I'll get one of my colleagues to phone.

    So we shall see.
