They are bluffing. If you don't like their offer give them your counter offer but expect to pay at least the private sale valuation of £13,700 they won't sell it to you at the trade trade in value of £12,500, they'll have a handful of dealers queing to buy it for that price if you don't come to an agreement with them so why would they sell it you for that price?

Thanks all. I tried to offer them £13,700 and they said thanks but all they can do is send another valuation which will invalidate the previous one and the risk is it will be higher than the £14,100. Anyway, have decided to e mail them tomorrow and gamble on another quote, if its higher then they can have the car back and I'll go look elsewhere. Its hard to tell what other cards are going for as they vary when you look on autotrader. The Dealers have them for anything between £14700 and £16000 same as mine but they will have their margins in that. Its a Honda CRV.

You could ask which auction house the car will be going to and take a risk that you'll get it cheaper still..
