Car Hire for Europe

Can anyone recommend any good car hire companys to use for Ibiza? Or any to avoid? I've been searching on travelsupermarket and the cheapest seem to be arguscarhire.com and holidayautos, then atlaschoice and economycarhire. I've never heard of any of them!

Has anyone ever used any of these or know if they are ok?

Thanks in advance.

Argus/HA/Atlas and Economy are all brokers and therefore you will end up with either a local based firm or a national (Avis, Hertz etc) the most likely being a budget local firm. Generally until you have paid the broker you wont have the booking form to advise who the booking is with. I don't know Ibiza but book on a regular basis in Mallorca and some horror stories this year with Goldcar and Rekord. Try and book through a broker with free cancellation then when booking form comes through ask again re specific firm you have been given.

Hi, I have gone with BK. They look more like brokers to me, have a wander over the spotlight Ibiza forums and look in there at the information. Be careful of full to empty in the terms they can and do charge 80 odd euros per tank on top of the hire and look for out of hours charges to.

I recently rented a car from Europcar in Italy, and they were great and incredibly quick & easy. You get more peace of mind with the internationals, but they tend to be more expensive. Definitely book online (even if you do it from an internet cafe there) as you will save money.

Yes, be careful when booking. I booked with Hertz via TravelSupermarket and got a brand new car with only 300 miles on the clock.
Whilst picking up my car, I saw a couple approaching their rental from a nearby rental booth. I felt sorry for them. It had holes and scratches everywhere. Quite literally a Jalopy. I told them to reject it and to get another. They tried and couldn't.
