Just goes to show that perhaps their recruitment procedures / methods are not working?0 -

A customer scans a product at the self service till and it comes up at a higher price than they expected. The customer explains that it said it was on offer on the shelf, the label hadn't been removed from the shelf and the promotion has now expired.
Do you:
Allow them the offer price, then remove the obsolete sticker
Ask your manager if they can have the offer
Tell them sorry there is nothing you can do and ask if they still want the product at the higher price
Makes you wonder how they expect someone to research this information? I think in real-life situations, I've probably encountered all of those remedies in the same store.
Have you been given authority to override the scanned price at the till? Some nationwide stores do have mispricing policies in place, which are applied locally at the management's discretion. What happens if the manager is not around?
I agree though the last option would probably get you into the least trouble, even if the customer is slightly peeved. I would expect though that even the last option should say, "remove the obsolete sticker".0 -
Yes I'm annoyed as my boots store is a 3 minute walk away from my house and people in this town have come from places 45 mins away by car to get here- and they get the jobs.
Are you seriously suggesting that a recruiter's selection criteria should be how far away the candidate lives?0 -

No I've applied to many places- one even 90 mins away by car because I wanted that job and didn't get it. Sainsburys have a 5 mile radius policy and won't recruit outside this.
I'm saying it seems silly to hire someone from a town far away if there is another store close by that they can be transferred to.0 -
OP ive applied for jobs where if you aren't invited to interview you have to wait a set amoutn of time before applying again, asda was 1 of them and i think maplins was the other. ive also applied for jobs that ask how far away do you live from the store or how would you be travelling.0

They all seem a bit naff to me, though I'd err towards the 1st (but reckon the 3rd is what they would do).
That is exactly what happened to me last time I went to Boots... the checkout guy went and had a look, admitted that they had indeed made an error on the promotion sticker, called his manager and it was manually overuled...so I would hope the response was the second one, otherwise, they are employing people who can't even apply their most basic knowledge!0 -

I would love to know who started this urban myth! Sainsburys do recruit outside a five mile radius, I don't know anything about their recruitment procedure but I do know several people that work for them and have never lived that close.0 -

That sounds a bit odd as the nearest Sainsbury to me is 8 miles away and I would think they have to get some staff from further away as they all can't be on the door step.0 -
