too good to be true???????

I know the old adage, if it looks too good to be true it usually is, but (long story short) my braun thermoscan thermometer has died after almost 6 years so I decided to have a look on ebay as that was where i got my first from. Having 2 kids who when they get a temp get it bad i found it reassuring to be able to keep an eye on their temperature. Plus I have a zillion of the covers so MSE wise it makes sense to buy another the same lol.
Looking on ebay this morning I have found a new seller with 0 feedback but 86 odd off this style thermometer selling them at £11.23
http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/BRAUN-THERMOSCAN-IRT-4520-EXACTEMP-EAR-DIGITAL-THERMOMETER-Children-Adults-/110888286514?pt=UK_Baby_safety_Thermometers_ET&hash=item19d174f932
they've sold 20 in the last 2 days since registering, but obviously im a bit HMMMMMMM as theyre so much cheaper than the others on there, the compact versions start at £20, and the one i had £30 (is £40 in boots)
Does anyone else think this is a 'too good to be true' scam???? I just dont get why theyd scam cheap on an item like that, though it does say 86 available, or did earlier, so its a decent profit to them if it is a scam.

It looks like it, I've made a test purchase, as I'll use eBay Buyer Protection if its a scam.
The Paypal payment is showing unclaimed (The recipient of this payment is Unregistered) & the hotmail account for the Paypal account security question is 儿童时期的最好朋友[Childhood best friend]
So its either a very bad scam where the seller is not collecting the funds or they'll add the email address to existing Paypal account & send out Chinese copies0 -
All the buyers bought over last 2 days and he has given himself a generous delivery time to complete the scam before the trouble starts.
By the way, when you get one (a Braun), if it takes the LF40 covers it was pointed out the other day on MSE that Amazon is doing 40's
for £2.93 delivered.
Had a couple of other brands before but the Braun one is in a different league for accuracy, same as doctors/hospitals use for good reason.0 -
yeah the braun one is amazing, both my kids have had terrible fevers and this was a godsend to me as a new mum worrying when they started with a temp, was worth every penny, and I shall definately be buying a replacement one, just not one of those lol. Sods law my 6 yr old has been ill all day with a raging temp, burning hot to touch and i dug out the thermoscan just incase it decided to work again and nothing
Hae found them on amazon for £30 del which is cheaper than boots and i can go through topcashback too so wont work out too bad i hope lol

They do have one feedback, positive. I know it's a cliche but we all have to start somewhere. I started selling on ebay (business account) in the last month and barely broke even, deliberately, so people would buy my stuff and I could get some good feedback. Glad people took a chance on me!
Can't blame you though, on the other hand for being cautious.I'm never offended by debate & opinions. As a wise man called Voltaire once said, "I disagree with what you say, but will defend until death your right to say it."
Mortgage is my only debt - Original mortgage - January 2008 = £88,400, March 2014 = £47,000 Chipping away slowly! Now saving to move.0 -
Bluemeanie i agree we all have to start somewhere
However after going to check their 1 feedback cos it wasnt there when i posted this, going via the link to the item in my first post it came up unavailable, so i checked my basket as i had one saved in there for if i did decide to buy one. Theyre unavailable as seller is "not a registered user". Yet the 1 feedback was positive for the thermometer lol.
Is not registeres user ebay removed or they closed account?0 -
Account closed. Dont think they will say if ebay closed it or the account holder.
I guess someone bought one and complained, It was china not the UK?Censorship Reigns Supreme in Troll City...0
