My wife was very upset when her Audi was vandalised.
Phoned Direct Line and told to contact their nominated repair centre. After some hassle got them to agree to a repair by our local Audi repair centre - who are on their approved list. :j
They said NCD will be lost but reinstated after assessor police report have been reviewed. Two months later, we are told wait for your renewal notice. Not very happy:mad:, can see it being another hassle to get proof of NCD if I choose a.n.other insurer.

With most other insurers you would have lost the NCD straight off so the fact that DL have their "vandalism promise" is a bonus.
Inevitably with these sorts of claims people try it on, scrape their gatepost one day and instead report to their insurer as vandalism rather than a collision. Hence they have to confirm they are comfortable it is what you say it is before they reinstate the NCD0 -
If this isn't resolved at renewal, then explain the situation to your chosen insurer and get them to agree to amend your premium and backdate the revised premium to the policy start date should your lost NCD be reinstated.0

Thanks for your prompt replies.
It is not a bonus. It is one of the features of the policy and one of the reasons why we did not select the cheapest insurer
I am sure many do try it on and I appreciate that they have to check my claim thoroughly.
We would like them to investigate my claim now, so that we are spared further hassle at renewal time."A nation's greatness is measured by how it treats its weakest members." ~ Mahatma Gandhi

They will have investigated the claim now but if they are awaiting a police report they can take AGES to turn up, especially if they catch the scrot that did the crime.
Given it has no impact on you until renewal season it is rightfully not a major priority for them - compared for example to someone who's car is currently sat at the road side undrivable after an RTA. They will manage it, keep an eye on it and chase it if it does start taking too long (or at least in theory).
Once they have what they need they will close the claim non-fault and the NCD will be preserved at renewal - they wont wait for the renewal to decide what to do.0 -
Dont forget you still need to report it as a claim when you swap insurers.Censorship Reigns Supreme in Troll City...0

Agreed and thanks for the heads up. IMHO honesty is the best policy - if you will excuse the pun."A nation's greatness is measured by how it treats its weakest members." ~ Mahatma Gandhi

I followed up my phone call with a letter. I am very pleased to report Direct Line have responded:NCD has now been allowed as per our vandalism promise"A nation's greatness is measured by how it treats its weakest members." ~ Mahatma Gandhi

I spoke too soon.
Got the renewal notice today and they have not re-instated my NCD. Another fifteen minute phone call and they tell me they will send me a revised quote within 7 days."A nation's greatness is measured by how it treats its weakest members." ~ Mahatma Gandhi
