HD video & photo storage websites

Hi,

Besides facebook and youtube, are there any other free websites where I can upload about 8gb of HD videos and photos, and have the ability to share with only family and friends (e.g. using passwords or private links).

I want to upload the videos directly as 1080p .mts files (it's fine if the site downscales them to 720p) and preferably have the photos on the same site too.

Cheers

Most of the trusted brands (Dropbox, Amazon, Google, Apple) all offer free space but not enough for 1 account to cover all your needs. Would you consider splitting them up over multiple providers?

There are a few other brands that do claim to give enough space for your needs for free but I cannot comment on their stability, security or suitability. If you google Cloud Storage you will find them

Get a NAS and set it up to share via ftp and port forward through your router. Pretty much guaranteed to have sufficient space and then some and you don't compromise your privacy. Downside is no fancy interface or thumbnails. There are probably even better ways of doing it depending on what NAS you get and what features it has.

Never thought about a NAS. Have googled and some do seem to have suitable features however with my broadband upload speed of only 0.8 - 1 Mb/s I don't think I'll be able to stream decent quality videos over the net.

    Cheers.
