Query re permitted work, SDA, DLA and occasional income

thank you I didn't realise that DLA and SDA were not means tested. It would be scary if he sold a few paintings then lost all his income! I understand now that this can't happen.
He does get a very small amount of income support, I don't think that the IS itself is much, but that it entitles him to other things, is that right? Am I right in thinking it's things like no council tax and free prescriptions? If this is the case then he cannot risk his IS (unless he sells LOTS of paintings for large sums
) .
While SDA isn't means tested if he works 16 hpw or more or earns more than the £97.50 pw he looses his right to SDA. For permitted work it has to be under 16 hours I believe.
I am on SDA myself and will lose it if I do 16 hr or more.“How people treat you becomes their karma; how you react becomes yours.”0 -
Why would renting a studio change things? He has had the studio for years and years, it is where he paints, and stores all his paintings, paints etc. There is nowhere for them at home.
He doesn't do 16 hours a week by any means, his health mean that this would not be possible.
I have spoken to someone at the job centre who is going to look into and come back to me but she was referring to £20 a week not £90+ per week. She is going to check with some other people and get back to me about whether the income can be averaged out over the year, and also that it would be profit not income that needs to be looked at (in which case zero as his costs are higher than any anticipated income).0
