Just wondering if anyone has used Booking.com to book their hotel(s) abroad, and if so, what do you think of them?

Used them a couple of times and no problems. Just like any other opnline booking service such as laterooms, Hotels.com to be honest0

I've used them a few times now for city breaks because they usually come in a little cheaper than Expedia/Lastminute etc. Never had a problem and a special request I made last time was passed on to the hotel. I would go for it and don't worry

Cheers folks, that makes me feel a bit easier, you know what it is though - can't be too careful nowadays.0

Used them last year and again this year. No problems whatsoever, with booking.com you usually use your cc to reserve the room and pay the hotel at check-out whilst hotel.com you pay the full amount when you book.
A big difference.0 -
Yes have used them a few times, no problems with the bookings. They aren't always the cheapest, and I've often found they don't show family rooms even if the hotel does have family rooms which are available. This seems to be mainly a problem with French hotels, I have booked family rooms in other countries through them!0

Used them for abroad and at home, no problems whatsoever, very straightforward and pleasant experience

Yes, used them quite a few times and found them just fine and quite competitive.0

I've recently used booking.com to book a hotel in the US and had what could have been a bad experience, but they handled it very well.
Booked a room about a month ago, got a confirmation email through etc then had a call yesterday advising that unfortunately our hotel had been overbooked (not surprising, there is a big event on whilst we're there and a lot of places are booked up).
Could have been a bit of a nightmare as there weren't many other decent choices in our price range, however booking.com have arranged for our reservation to be transferred to another hotel in the area and will honor the rate we booked at, despite the new place costing around $30 extra per night. We've actually ended up in a nicer hotel which I had considered staying at anyway but ruled out as being a bit too pricey...can't say fairer than that.0 -
Confirming that with bookings.com, you generally pay the hotel, which I find reassuring.
I found that they have much wider availability in smaller towns, especially in South Africa, for example.
You can get an idea of how competitive they are by checking hotel availability on www.trivago.co.uk or www.trivago.com which sweep various booking sites and show results for all that have availability.0
