    Thanks Ballyblack. Very useful. That's as I thought.
    Been in touch with DVLNI again. I can go ahead and get full insurance for my England address and use that as long as the insurance company cover me to tax a vehicle in NI.
    Insurance company were very good and contacted the DVLNI and have assured me that I can.

    Anyway driving a vehicle with an expired disc by only a few days is not a 'hanging' offence!!

    I know. Just better to get it sorted if possible. Got the insurance sorted and like a good little MSE'er got lots of freebies thrown in!
    And booked it on the ferry and found a discount code and good advice on a thread which saved me about 20%.

    Just a wee update for anyone who may find it useful in the future.
    The cover note on my insurance said that it satisfied all legal requirements in NI, Channel Isl etc etc. Took it and relevant documents into tax office today and they did it in about 30 secs. No problem!!
