I needed an exhaust same day. I couldn't get a vauxhall oe, so bought one from a factors. Not branded, and it wasn't an easy fit. It was also slightly narrower than the oe back pipe, so it wouldn't seal, without a lot of compound. If it's not too much more, go for the oe.0

Probably right, seeing as I am intending to keep the bosal rear box.
Didn't know you had a Vx, thought it was some rubber band car0 -
Never noticed any difference between the aftermarket exhausts.
High miles and long runs stop exhausts falling apart, that's about it really.
I sent a Mondeo to scrap with 270k on it with the factory system still fitted, car hadn't stood still long enough for it to corrode.

Factor part was definately a smaller box, and noisier.0

Hi, I work for Bosal so I would say this wouldn't I - but if you ask mechanics & fitters the Bosal aftermarket exhausts do have a good reputation for looking and behaving like the OE items - and they fit well too.0

Are the OE Bosal ones better than the aftermarket Bosal ones in any way?0

I have had trouble before with Timax and am having trouble now.
On my last Vauxhall Astra I had to take the replacement Timax rear box off and refit with a Bosal because the Timax was too noisy.
On my present Astra, I had to have the front section replaced a month ago and a Timax was fitted, but it was also too noisy, but even worse, the MOT inspector today said that it barely passed the emission test and said that they have trouble with Timax. So I will take THIS one back and try to get the garage to replace it with a Bosal. I will go for Bosal every time, now.0 -
timax are a cheap part, that will do for a stop gap of about 2 years.
with refrence to fitting a front pipe and only just passing emissions, this is not just down to the front pipe alone, infact i cant see how a front flexi pipe or down pipe can have any affect on emissions unless it was ill fitted and leaking. and the cat converters are the same cell as others on the market.
bosal on the other hand are better, getting close to OE spec as far as i have seen, and some ARE OE parts under the bosal brand depending on make model and year and if they are sill using bosal as a supplier.
as far as taking it back because its too noisy, or word of mouth from a fitter who'm i'd doubt would write it down on paper to such affect as his claims would be, the exhaust will not be refunded if fitted and nothing wrong with it as a whole. exhausts are noisier when first fitted, theres no carbon build up in there and so is hollow appart from the mufflers.0
