Garden fence queries???

Hi,
I have a few questions about fences.
We have moved into a new house and the neighbours said in october they were putting a fence up. I asked them to let me know where they were going to get it from so that i could get the same fence.
6 months later and there is still no fence, they have said that they are now uncertain as to whether they want a fence. But they have since got a labrador and we only have a small wire fence supplied by the builders for boundaries that keeps the dog from our garden.
Does anyone know whether you have to have a proper fence if you have a dog. Its just this dog is a puppy and i am sure that soon it will be jumping over our fence.
I want a fence both sides of my garden as i want a bit of privacy and i want my children to be able to play safely in the garden. The fence on the other side of my garden is my responsability. But i really want fence on both sides and want it to be matching.
Any advice would be great.
Thanks

You can't force a neighbour to put up a fence. Why not have a chat with them, offer to help them put up the fence. If they don't want to, you can always put one up yourself.0

Hi Pinky8,
they don't ,I'm afraid , have to have a fence erected if they don't want one ,I would suggest as you do ...............that you put it up yourself and you will also guarantee then that it matches
what you could do is say to them that you will erect a fence and would they go halves with you on the cost ,it's worth a try.0 -
Thanks for your advice, you have confirmed my thoughts
